About Me
My name is Tomas Augustinovic, and I grew up in a small town outside of Stockholm called
Bålsta. I was born the year 1978, the same year as the first test-tube baby was born and
Superman was playing in cinemas. My father works with computers and my mother has always
been intrested, so I was lucky to have been brought up in a "computer-aware" family.
Naturally, my fathers intrest for computers rubbed of on me and I started "playing" around
with computers in quite an early age.
It didn't take long before I relized I wanted to make games and not just play them. When
I saw my fathers nibbles/worm game he had created in Turbo Basic, for the first time my
journey to learn games programming started. When I recieved my first Amiga my intrest for
games development flourished. I discovered AMOS, a basic-language that was created for
game developers on the Amiga. AMOS was a brilliant language and I kept to it until the
Amiga started to die out here in Sweden.
When I finally relized that the Amiga was dead and was forced to leave it, I continued
in the basic-track and picked up Visual Basic on the PC. With time I came to love it and
learned very much from it. I got my first job thanks to my knowledges in Visual Basic. I
was employed at TeleTrade Solutions (They are known as Nordnet today) for about 1 year.
During that time I produced a windows program that allowed you to view stocks, among other
things. After my employment at TeleTrade I started working at Serina Consulting as a
consultant. I learned a lot of web-programming and dotNET there.
I never really felt satisfied with my existance. Even though I like programming, I felt that
something was missing. I relized that I at least have to try to achieve my lifes goal, becoming
a games developer. So I quit working and signed up for a 3 year games programmer course at
Powerhouse in Kramfors. I'm now studying there fulltime.
